lightly emplaced

Thanks for visiting my library of photographs. The title ‘lightly emplaced’ comes from melding my previous professional life as an academic geographer with a desire to travel and a need to express what I see (and the semiotics in those images about the nature of ‘place’ and how connected we are – or can be, if so chosen – to the natural world).

The images are made on a variety of instruments – my first Nikon FE2 (and images scanned from FujiChrome transparencies), then a D90, a Wista 4*5 inch large format camera (images drum-scanned), and recently a Hasselblad x2d. Many of the photographs were made on an Apple iPhone – those are the least sharp images in this repository (in the main) because it’s an old iPhone…
